The researchers , as quoted by MailOnline , said children now considers Facebook " not okay " and embarrassed upload intimacy for fear of getting caught parents .
The research studied the online habits of teenagers in eight European countries including the UK .
It turns out that many teen Facebook users to switch to alternatives like Snapchat and WhatsApp .
Professor Daniel Miller of University College London , who worked in the Global Social Media Impact Study , said British children " even embarrassed if associated with Facebook " .
He said " young people flocking to use other social media while their parents continue to use Facebook . "
Professor Miller said the teen now considers Facebook " so not cool " .
" Young and free was considered useless if parents can access all our behavior . Youth very caring style and status of their peers , so Facebook is not cool anymore . "
" If the parents worry about their children joined Facebook , now they insist that children continue to use Facebook , " Millier said .
However , the study found most teenagers still use Facebook to contact with a brother or sister who does not live at home anymore .
The study, funded by the European Union examine the behavior of adolescents aged 16 to 18 years old for 15 months .
